Intermix is a new and dynamic initiative by East Staffordshire Racial Equality Council. The project recognises the diversity of different cultures, and works in partnership with school and parents to celebrate and raise the awareness of children from multi-heritage backgrounds.
A significant number of families in Burton are now of a multi-heritage background, giving rise to a variety of challenges that face parents and teachers. The issues around diversity and racial identity are complex and require sensitivity and understanding on how to address these needs.
In many cases these challenges are subliminal and at worse unspoken!
